Haven has quietly become not only one of the most well-curated carriers of some of the coolest clothing you can buy (see: Kapital, Visvim, A. Presse, Lemaire) but also one of the best in-house makers. Based in Vancouver, Haven's own clothing line expressed hyper-wearable technical prowess born from the variable conditions of the Pac Northwest, where form and function must intertwine.
This fall, our gear-obsessed northern friends continue to set standards with a slew of offerings that embody minimalism in form and maximalism in quality and comfort. Let's take a look at some of my favorites.
Vests
Vests have gotten a lot of blowback in recent years because of their ubiquity amongst the "Tech Bro" crowd, but make no mistake, a good vest is a must in the cooler months. My favorite is this Nanga "Skyline" collab, stuffed with polish goose down for a light feel and a tailored design for style that will outstay some of this categories' lesser offerings from less discerning brands.
Sweaters
Fall and winter are really about sweaters. I am a sweater person, and I will forever celebrate this category of clothing. This year, Haven continues to make some fantastic sweaters, highlighted by the Highlight knit shirt, seen here on yours truly and the subject of an upcoming review, which, based on a few days of me wearing it, will be glowing.
Technical Shells
Haven's shells are lightweight and bombproof, perfect for use as a rainy day shell or to snowboard or ski in when combined with a nice base and/or midlayer. These jackets contain everything you need and nothing you don't. Haven took some of the best features from companies like Burton, Veilance, and Patagonia to create a line of technical jackets that outshines those brands. This year, my highlight is the spectre jacket, which features calf leather trim on the hood and elbows. 🤤
